  • Seven eyewear pieces you need in your life

Sunglasses not only provide shade to aid squinting at blinding sun rays. A pair can conceal your expression, a hangover, where your sight is currently lying, or should I say on whom.

They are the ultimate face accessory. Over the years shapes and styles have been and gone, while some are everlastingly chic, others just had to go (ahem, adios aviators). Now we’re out of the Ray-Ban phase sunglass designers have upped their game to bring us contemporary and more importantly, killer products.

Following are seven showstopper shades for when that sun hits full blast.

Yakbukey for Linda Farrow: Cherry Lips

First up we have some pop art to cover your peepers. You get flirty and fun all in one with these shades. The loud glasses come in two colours, red and pink.

    House of Holland: Pinky Promise

Henry Holland's latest addition to his catchphrases onto eyewear series is a sure winner reading: 'There is more to me than meets the eye'. The marble effect frame and mirrored lens also give them a special touch.

Markus Lupfer: Flower Acetate Squared Sunglasses

Daisy flowers take centre stage in these glasses. Borderline novelty, but they can still be rocked every day. These come in black and pink, and also in a star design instead to see out of.

    Quay Australia: Fleur

A must feature would be some winged cat-eye shaped glasses as they are extremely complimentary. On these, the frame has a cool geometric design and the vibrant lenses in either pink or blue make life look like Instagram.

Shanghai Tang: Dark Tortoiseshell Mirror Sunglasses
While most the attention is on the eyebrow style, the bright lens and classic tortoise shell pattern completes the strong look. For a more toned down choice, check the Leonard style from Illesteva, which comes in at a lower price point of £122.

ASOS: Round glasses with sliced bottom
Thick rimmed round glasses but with a twist of a straight edged bottom. Rounded glasses are best suited to angular faces, although the only fashion rule that should be followed is that rules are for breaking.

    £12 Buy
    Christian Dior: So Real
The suspended arched frame is the focal point, giving a more avant-garde feel to the otherwise classic style. They come in a range of colours, and the clear silver is the top pick for its minimalism and versatility.
