  • Debut live show

With two number 1 singles under his belt and quite a successful 2014 Duke Dumont has followed in the footsteps of Disclosure, performing his music live. Having seen Duke DJ a couple of times, I was curious to what his live show had to offer and went along to his debut show on the 2nd of October in Shoreditch, expecting an evening of grooving.

Jax Jones warmed up the crowd with an hour-long DJ set, he's part of Duke's record label Blase Boys Club and mixed some of the summer's biggest deep house tunes. Prior to the man himself taking to the stage, I managed to spot singer MNEK arriving, my excitement grew as he confirmed that he'd be singing one of my favourites, 'Hold On'.

Duke took to some synth pads whilst two band members played on drums either side of him. Vocalists were brought on stage at the appropriate points which make all the difference to a live show, especially with vocal lines as strong as his. Crowd reactions reached a peak as the steel drums from 'I Got U' were heard and the sing along to newest anthem 'Won't Look Back' went down. More importantly, Duke seemed to be having a great time himself. As he should, his production quality is consistent with delicious hooks and funky beats.

Highlight: Forgotten about his remix of Haim's 'Falling' so that was fun.

Lowlight: Still yet to of heard his remix of Alunageorge through a sound system - hint, hint. Although requests for an encore were granted, was left a tad baffled his support was on for longer than him.
